In the 17th century,the tribes of Fiji practiced cannibalism rituals.
These rituals continued until Christianity was introduced in the 19ty century.
Represented here is a solemn ceremony that starts with the drinking of human blood. At the center of the ritual space is a plate containing a sacrificial human being and blood.
Mereia said that after returning to Fiji she would share the model-making techniques she learned here.
