This is the legendary Kaieteur Falls on the Potaro River.
With a drop of about 250 meters, it is the world's largest waterfall that has a basin.
Long ago,a chief named Kai,whose people were under attack, paddled over the falls as an act of self-sacrifucein a prayer to "save my tribe".
The sacred ground of the falls was a local secret until explores discovered it in1970.
